Answering phones for the CBS local television station in my native Los Angeles was a summer job as a 16-year-old. The newsroom staff alone was 380. Jerry Dunphy was the anchor his opening for the 11 p.m. Newscast: "From the desert to the sea, to all of Southern California, a good evening".
